Biography

Yun Wang is a biomedical informatics and imaging scientist who directs Nurture Map Lab—Maternal–Infant Imaging, AI & Neurodevelopment—at Emory University School of Medicine. Her independently funded research program develops AI and quantitative MRI methods to measure connected pathways from maternal health through placental function and fetal physiology to infant brain development and early neurobehavior.

Her research frames early development as a connected maternal–placenta–fetal-circulation–brain–neurobehavior system. The long-term goal is to identify when and how developmental risk emerges, create quantitative tools for earlier monitoring, and reveal potentially modifiable pathways for prevention. Her work spans medical imaging, biomedical informatics, obstetrics, radiology, developmental neuroscience, and mental health.

Research interests

Perinatal imaging AI

Interpretable, developmentally aware methods for fetal, placental, newborn, and infant MRI across motion, changing anatomy, heterogeneous scanners, and limited labels.

Placental and fetal pathways

Multimodal phenotyping of placental physiology, fetal circulation, oxygen delivery, and their links to early brain development.

Early neurobehavior

Longitudinal models connecting perinatal phenotypes with regulation, attention, social communication, and early psychopathology risk.
